The campy of aspiring beauty queen Roxanne Cabañero now denies that the statement which says that it was on April 24, 2014 when TV host-actor Vhong Navarro raped her.
The new statements of Cabañero follow the clarification of comedian Vice Ganda, who confirms that Vhong was with him at his concert in Cavite that day.
According to Atty. Virgillo Batalla, the rape incident happened on a different day but it was on April 24, 2010 when Roxanne and Vhong first met at a noontime show.
“Sila ang nagsasabi ng date of rape. Doon sa ebidensiya, matibay na wala sila doon. Kinukundisyon nila ang tao na nangyari ang rape ng April 24. Pero kaming nag-aakusa, hindi namin sinasabing 24,” he explained.
This, however, is in contrast to Roxanne’s sworn affidavit in the rape case she filed against Vhong on February 19, 2014 at Pasig Prosecutor’s Office.
The lawyer admits that Roxanne was just confused when she said that she checked in at “Astoria Plaza Hotel Ortigas” and was picked up by Vhong. The truth is that she was at Millenia Suites along with the other pang Miss Bikini Philippines candidates.
“It happened while they are staying in Astoria, as what is corrected now as Millenium (Millenia) Suites. (Nangyari ang rape) During the time of April 24, 25, 26, and 27,” Atty. Batalla asserts. “At saka probinsiyana ang kliyente ko noong 2010. Nagkamali yung kliyente ko dahil yung Astoria Hotel at Millenium (Millenia) Hotel, parehong-pareho ang hitsura.”
Meanwhile, Millenia Suites confirms that there were indeed beauty pageant candidates checked in at their hotel on the controversial date because it was the sponsor of the pageant.
Roxanne’s co-candidate in Miss Bikini Philippines, Rose Ann Uy Aguilar, also confirmed that they did not check in at Astoria, but at Millenia Suites.
On March 13, the preliminary investigation of the case is scheduled and Vhong’s camp is scheduled to submit his counter-affidavit.
